Typical course programme...

Before your arrival at The White House, after a preliminary telephone or on-line assessment (please see Pre-course Assessment Form), your Tutor will select appropriate material from approved course books and web-based lessons.

On your first morning at The White House, you and your Tutor will discuss and agree your language objectives for your Course, if necessary adapting the proposed course material so that, as closely as possible, you achieve – or exceed – those objectives by the end of your Course.

The daily timetable is also adapted to suit the level and language objectives of each Student, whether being taught one-to-one, two-student or in a small family group. Click on Typical Timetable
to see a sample daily work/holiday schedule.

Homework: if you want, additional material to study in your own time (homework), it will be provided but it is not compulsory.

Post-Course work: At the end of your Course, we will, together, assess your coursework and progress and, if you wish, plan a schedule of continuin
g studies.

Within 2 weeks of the end of your Course, we will send you a final Report on your coursework,  progress and improved language level.

Organised excursions...

If you plan to stay for just one week (six full days - Sunday afternoon to Saturday morning), we hope you will want to join in all the organised accompanied afternoon and evening excursions and activities including a one-day tour of some of the famous London tourist attractions - unless you would prefer to do something else.  It is your choice because it is your holiday!

If you plan to stay for 10 days, 2 weeks or more, you are encouraged to go on the Saturday excursion to explore one or more of the many tourist attractions and activities in the locality
(Stonehenge, Oxford, Bath, The Kennet & Avon Canal, Salisbury Cathedral, The Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Longleat Safari Park, etc., etc.) or to visit some of the numerous excellent pubs and restaurants, theatres, cinemas, museums, stately homes, etc. – either by yourself/yourselves or as part of your course
 itinerary.

Typical 10-day Course timetable...
Each Student or Family Group is encouraged to decide on the 'balance' of study time to holiday activities.  Our recommendation is to study in the mornings and relax in the afternoons and evenings but this may vary from day to day, depending on what holidays activities/excursions are planned.
However, a typical 10-Day (recommended) Course Timetable might include the following elements:

Colour code = Black for travel and tuition time
                              Green for meals and refreshments
Red for excursions and social conversation time
